The American Ships Quilt by Ruby McKim
The American Ships Quilt is a vintage quilt pattern by Ruby McKim. The designs were originally published an Ohio newspaper in 1936 in installments, and when published weekly, it took nearly a year to gather all of the patterns! The blocks are designed to be worked on 9" muslin squares and include coloring suggestions (the ships are best done in a single color due to the complexity. The center ship is appliqué and includes color suggestions)
This beautiful quilt is composed of 45 pattern blocks: 36 ship designs, a compass and anchor design (can be used for a quilting design or for embroidery as intended), and a large Square Rigged Clipper ship in the middle.
