Christmas Toy Quilt - Vintage 1932 Appliqué Pattern
The Christmas Toy Quilt (Happy Childhood Quiltie) was designed by it's author to be made of "bias tape and appliqué." The pattern is also suitable for embroidery, redwork or fabric painting. This child's quilt was designed by Aileen Bullard and was printed in the Kansas City Star newspaper as a series of patterns in 1932. Each block, as designed, is nine inches square.

The Happy Childhood Quilt consists of twelve toy blocks, twenty Christmas tree blocks and one strip the size of three blocks in which the Child's name may be appliquéd with bias tape or embroidered in script. Suggested colors are the bright reds, yellows, blues, pinks and greens of toys. The background is white. Christmas trees are green. Bias tape binds the edge of the quilt and covers seams in soft green. Designs:
