Magic Vine Quilt - 1930s Pattern by Nancy Page

The patterns for Magic Vine originated in the 1930’s in series of newspaper patterns by Florence LaGanke Harris. As part of a series, LaGanke presented one new pattern each week. In addition to the pattern, the reader was treated to a fictitious story about a quilt group and their leader, Nancy Page. In the group, they shared stories, and decided on what colors to use for their flowers.

Nancy wrote that she got the idea for the Magic Vine Quilt from Jack and his magic bean stalk. It is magical because of the variety of flowers that grow on the vine. Twenty-two flowers that grow quickly in rows with twinning vines.

As designed, the finished measurements are 90 X 108”. You can easily alter your finished size by altering the size of the background blocks, the borders, or the outside leaf border.
