Circus Quilt - Vintage Newspaper Embroidery Pattern

The Circus quilt is a vintage redwork/embroidery pattern that was originally published in the 1930's or 1940's in The World-Herald Household.  Patterns for the 20 quilt blocks were designed by Harry Rasmussen, head of The World-Herald Art Department. The patterns were published on successive Wednesdays as a weekly Woman's Department feature.

The designs are just under 6" square. Following the instructions given - the designs are to be transferred to a 7" square of cotton off-white fabric. The finished quilt is designed to fit a single bed.  If you follow the square sizes and border sizes as given, the finished size will be 60" x 87".
