This vintage embroidery quilt pattern was originally published as a series of newspaper patterns.  The pattern consists of 20 designs and a quilt layout diagram.

Here is a cunning little quilt to tuck around the boys and girls who love Mother Goose's family.  See Jack and Jill going for that troublesome pail of water?  And can you find stupid old Humpty Dumpty that fell clear off the wall?  So was the sill boy who went fishing in a pail of water?  And who was so nimble and quick that he jumped right over the candlestick?

Also known as the Mother Goose Colonial Quilt or Nursery Rhyme Quilt.

Transfer the designs onto 10" squares of muslin and finish in outline stitch.

After they are traced through carbon paper onto muslin, big sister or mother can show you about the outline stitch.  Sure, boys make quilts too, and get tucked under them just the same as girls do.

Alternative to carbon paper - Today you can use an inexpensive transfer pen available in sewing and craft stores. To aid in tracing you can use a quilting light box, or well-lit window as women of previous generations did.

Use some pretty colored thread and when the quilties are all finished they can be set together with stripes of the same color.

Opposite: Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep.

Poor Bo-Peep! She does not know that her sheep will come back acting the way sheep most always do.  So she worries and looks for them instead of being carefree like the rest of the Quilties.  Boy Blue will be along after a while and he is used to hunting sheep.

The pattern is suitable for coloring, painting, appliqué work, embroidery or a combination. You can choose redwork or bluework and make  your quilt as simple or elaborate as you wish. At that time, the quilt was designed for redwork, no color suggestions are given.

Any of the designs can be used separately for pillow tops, runners, tablecloths and other pieces for your home or for gifts.
