Vintage 1930's Newspaper Pattern - State Flowers Pillow

The Star offers its readers today the chance to make a pretty and distinctive pillow top. The hundreds of readers who have made our various quilts will welcome this easy and different arrangements.

This pattern consists of six designs. The state flowers are: The bluebonnet of Texas, the sego lily of Utah, the poppy of California, the rhododendron of Washington, the syringa of Idaho and the Oregon grapes of old Oregon. The pillow may be of any diameter - the distance across from 18 to 30 inches.  About 24 inches will be ample.

The Pattern recommends simple embroidery stitches - just rows of plain stitching which develop the flower motif, simple outline stitching for the leaves and stems, and French knots for the centers.
